together at last

I looked at her smiling face, as healthy and full of life as the day we met.. Her hand brushed my cheek..it felt so warm. I didn't realize..how much i'd missed her touch, her smiling face and soft, silvery voice..those hazel eyes gazed at me and her loving smile filled me with warmth, as corny as that sounds.
"I'm so glad..you came.." she whispered to me as she stroked her thumb over my hand that held hers softly.
"I couldn't leave you alone..I had to do it Mary..I had to .." she put a fingertip over my lips to hush me. Her eyes told me she understood..why I'd ..
"It doesn't matter anymore, James.." she said. "you're here now..we're together at last. that's all that matters."
"yeah.." I replied, and leant across, our lips meeting for the first time in years..I felt more alive in this moment than I'd ever felt...When I was still alive. but we were together now..in our special place..forever ♥.
